A lifelong self-taught artist and certified aromatherapist, Lotus focused on her enchantment with botanicals in 2004 to become a contemporary botanical artist. Born in Colorado, she resides with her husband in the Texas hill country observing the development encroaching on natural habitat of the native plants there. A grant awarded in 2005 by the American Society of Botanical Artists led her on a marvelous journey of documenting Rare and Endangered Plants and today she still engages people with her art for conservation purposes. She shares her adventurous journey of finding and creating these plant portraits and shows appreciation for the people behind saving these plants with a public talk and slide show. "It's about discovery. Even the simplest plant unveils a complexity that still to this day astonishes me. I want scientific accuracy, but I also want the viewer to see the magic of its existence."
