George M. Kehew

His paintings of the Red Rock Country of Southern Utah began 15 years ago when he moved from his San Diego studio. To quote him: "The thing that attracted me most to the Color Country is its austerity. A land of no frills shaped by wind and rain, oblivious of man's will--a strong land with a unique eternal quality." It was George's interest in the desert landscape, and his study of the desert flora that led to his membership in the American Society of Botanical Artists.

As Art Director for the Scripps Oceanographic Group, he is well qualified to paint the sea as well as desert landscapes and desert flora. Art Center College of Design and the Chouinard School of Art started the him on a successful career both in commercial art as well as fine art. His art has been exhibited throughout the United States, Canada, Greece, Germany, Africa and the Philippines. George is a past president of the San Diego Watercolor Society and is listed in Marquis Who's Who in the World.
