Lara is a young botanical illustrator and artist in Charlottesville, Virginia. Currently, she is one of the botanical illustrators for the Flora of Virginia Project. She has her undergraduate degree in Biology from the University of Virginia and a Masters in Plant Ecology from Virginia Tech. She has trained under Margaret Saul and has taken classes through Rhode Island School of Design and Cornell University that have emphasized botanical art and scientific illustration. She has taught sketching and painting classes for the Ivy Creek Nature Foundation in Charlottesville, the National Wildlife Federation, and as part of the Wintergreen Nature Foundation's Field Institute program. In the last year, Lara had become a member of GNSI and ASBA and had her art displayed at the 2004 GNSI art show.
