Carolyn has been painting watercolors since 1986 and is self-taught. She is inspired by American artist Georgia O’Keefe and the botanical collections of Dr Shirley Sherwood.
She is a florilegium artist for Filoli Center. Four of her paintings are in Filoli’s permanent collection. One of her paintings is in the Hunt Institute’s permanent collection.
Her work has appeared in over 85 juried exhibitions including ASBA; museums; and through national watercolor societies. She has won over 25 awards.
Many of Carolyn’s paintings are produced as limited edition prints and fine art note cards. She has completed commissions for Saratoga Horticultural Research Foundation and private collectors.
In 2002, California Governor Gray Davis chose one of her California Poppy (state flower) paintings to adorn the State Holiday Gift Ornament. In 1999, she completed 50 original watercolors of the California Poppy for the Governor. They were given to dignitaries during the Governor’s 1999 European Trade Mission.
Carolyn’s work and commentary appears in three editions of “American Artist Watercolor” magazine. She is a member of ASBA; The National Museum Of Women In The Arts; and a signature member of California Watercolor Association. She earned bachelor's and master's degrees in health science from San Diego State University. She lives in northern California.
